A no-frills budget establishment in Hamburg’s St. Pauli district near Annenstraße that hasn’t seen a renovation in years. The room is small and dark, dominated by a narrow double bed with cherry wood paneling running along the headboard and up the wall behind it. Bedding is plain — white sheets with a grey microfiber throw and an orange accent cushion that provides the only splash of color. The desk area by the window is cramped, with a small flat-screen TV perched on the surface alongside a desk lamp, TV remote, hotel brochures, and a water bottle. Grey carpet covers the floor throughout. A jacket draped over the desk chair and a visible old-style panel radiator beneath the window reinforce the utilitarian atmosphere. The room is dark even with the curtains open — the sheer curtains filter what little light comes in. It serves its purpose as a place to sleep in St. Pauli, but little more.
